Independent CRNA Opportunity – West of San Antonio, Texas

A unique opportunity is available for an experienced CRNA interested in a truly independent anesthesia practice in a community west of San Antonio, Texas.

This position offers an attractive combination of clinical autonomy, a diverse case mix, and an excellent quality of life, while remaining within reach of everything the San Antonio area has to offer.

Practice Highlights

The CRNA functions as the primary anesthesia provider and should be comfortable practicing with a high degree of independence.

The surgical and procedural mix includes:

  • Obstetric anesthesia
  • Approximately 10–12 deliveries per month
  • Labor epidurals
  • Spinal anesthesia
  • GI sedation
  • Orthopedic surgery
  • General anesthesia and other procedures appropriate for a community hospital setting

Because of the OB component, candidates should be proficient and confident with both spinal and epidural anesthesia and comfortable independently evaluating and managing obstetric patients.

Schedule & Lifestyle

The position averages approximately 30 hours of clinical work per week, providing an unusual opportunity to maintain a rewarding independent anesthesia practice without the typical workload associated with many full-time hospital positions.

The lower average weekly hours may provide significantly more personal time while still allowing the CRNA to maintain a broad clinical skill set.

Live Near San Antonio

One of the major advantages of this opportunity is its location west of San Antonio.

Depending on where the provider chooses to live, this can offer the best of both worlds: the relaxed pace and independence of a smaller community practice with convenient access to the San Antonio metropolitan area.

San Antonio offers:

  • A large and growing metropolitan area
  • Excellent dining and entertainment
  • The River Walk and historic downtown
  • Professional sports and major events
  • San Antonio International Airport
  • Numerous suburban communities and housing options
  • Access to the Texas Hill Country
  • Outdoor recreation, wineries, state parks, and weekend destinations
  • No Texas state individual income tax

For someone who enjoys a quieter community but still wants access to a major city, this location provides an appealing balance.

Ideal Candidate

This opportunity is best suited for an experienced, clinically confident CRNA who enjoys autonomy and is comfortable being the anesthesia expert in a smaller practice environment.

Strong candidates should be comfortable with:

  • Independent anesthesia practice
  • Obstetric anesthesia
  • Epidural placement and management
  • Spinal anesthesia
  • General anesthesia
  • Airway management
  • Procedural/GI sedation
  • Orthopedic anesthesia
  • Perioperative decision-making without relying on a large anesthesia department

For the right CRNA, this is an opportunity to combine independent practice, approximately 30 clinical hours per week, a varied case mix, and proximity to San Antonio in one position.
